- Medical advice hotline, the aim of which is to provide residents with the opportunity to receive advice outside of family doctor working hours on how to deal with simple illnesses that do not require emergency medical assistance
- Medical advice is provided to residents by experienced family doctors, physician assistants, and nurses
- Work days: 17:00 - 08:00
- Weekends and holidays: 24/7

Situations when to contact the Family Doctor hotline:
- In case of minor injuries, sudden illness or exacerbation of chronic diseases
- If you have a fever, cold, vomiting, diarrhea, back, stomach, ear or neck pain
- If you have wounds, abrasions, body bruises, sprains
- If you are in doubt whet`her to call 113 or not

- Weekdays during the day: 08:30 - 17:00 (Fridays until 15:00)

On-call doctors (outside of medical practice working hours)
- If you need medical assistance outside of your family doctor’s working hours, but your health condition does not allow you to wait, doctors on call are available in Riga and other cities
- The on-call doctor provides assistance to all residents, regardless of which family doctor the patient is registered with
- When assessing the patient’s health condition, the doctor on duty is entitled to prescribe medication or open a work disability benefit if necessary

Emergency medical service
113
- The emergency number 113 should be called in situations where a person’s life is in danger and minutes are crucial in receiving help
- This number should be called in situations where there has been a very serious injury or sudden illness and emergency medical assistance is required immediately

Situations when to call the Emergency number:
- Unconsciousness, other life-threatening situations
- Breathing stops or sudden breathing problems occur
- There are serious injuries or severe bleeding that threatens life
- Signs indicating a heart attack (sudden pain behind the sternum)
- Signs indicating a stroke (sudden weakness on one side)
